Roy Schoenberg, CEO of American Well talks about their platform which is now available to anyone living in Hawai or Maine and instantaneously connects patients with physicians over the Internet. The encouters are covered by health insurance (compared to Hello Health for which you initially have to pay out of pocket and then get reimbursed) and include both primary care and subspecialists. As the CEO he is not providing a balanced assessment of their innovative platform and personally I’m not 100% sold that this is the future of physician-consumer interaction. However, American Well is getting a lot of traction and has some pretty impressive partners and supporters. If you’re interested in healthcare innovation, this talk is worth the 20-minute investment.
