Pervasive Monitoring and the Emergence of Data-Based Care

In the Innovator’s Prescription, Clay Christensen describes the three types of care: intuitive, empirical and precision.  For precision care to become the norm (some call it personalized medicine), one enabling technology will be intensive non-invasive physiologic monitoring.  Eric Topol in this TED talk provides evidence that we are quickly approaching the age of Data-Based Care.  Analytics tools will transform the mountains of data collected from continuous physiologic monitoring into information that will be the basis of personalized care plans and a tool for healthy behavior change.
